BIO

Ton Maassen is a versatile percussionist who has worked in a wide variety of musical styles. After completing an intensive course on meditative instruments, he began weaving these calming sounds into his music, creating a distinctive blend of synthesizers and meditative tones.

This fusion results in immersive soundscapes that invite the listener on a transformative musical journey. As layered themes gradually unfold, the listener is encouraged to surrender to the music and experience a sense of relaxation and inner peace.

His debut release, Wave of Water Dripping, finds its origin in a piece written for Ableton Live and two saxophones. This composition evolved through the addition of synth plugins, vocals, and gong, and was recorded in Lil Heaven Studio in Arnhem, NL.

About Tara (radiodroogdok)

BIO

Tara Downs is a cross-disciplinary artist whose practice draws on a background in Social Anthropology and Museum Studies.

As Miniature Museum, a collaboration with partner Bart Sabel, she produces interventions ranging in scale from tiny cabinets of curiosities to large scale sculpture for festivals, theatre and public events.

Armed with an unerring eye for the beautiful and a passion for public engagement, since 2012 Tara has carved out a niche with her creative approaches to heritage interpretation. Playful, informative installations fuse hand-crafted and digital processes, steam-age engineering, storytelling and a delicate attention to detail, and mix fact and fantasy to enchant audiences and provoke participation.

Her offshoot project, Radio Droogdok, explores a love of radio, communication and sonic experimentation.

Tara lives in a house that smells of burnt dust and Bakelite, has an entire room full of ancient radios, and can only sleep to the hiss of static.

BIO

“I started creating Electronic Music in 1971 after listening to Recordings of Karl Heinz Stockhausen and Walter Carlos, now Wendy Carlos.

I was still at school at the time and started playing piano with support from my music teacher.

The only electronic sounds I could make were using old Valve radio sets at home as Synthesizers were far too expensive for me.

In 1973 things really took off for me as I was working and could afford certain equipment FX’s as such.

I was lucky due to a man named William Howl who had a Arp Odyssey and a Mini MOOG which he used to let me play them along with some Tape Recorders and various other equipment for recording my jams.

That´s how my Electronic Journey began.

In the seventies much Inspiration came from the Berlin Movement with bands and solo artists such as Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Kraftwerk and many more from Germany.

Now Fifty Three Years later I have my Studio in Spain after locating from London in 2003 and all my equipment I need to create my Electronic and Experimental music.

When creating a piece of music I normally think of a subject and relate to that in music form, which could contain Sequencers with lush strings or it could be Experimental Improvisations inspired by Early EM Composers which some people may never have heard of.”

“If you like what you hear of music you can also checkout my Bandcamp Page, also some selective music can be found on this website.”

BIO

Dries Geusens builds and makes music with modular synthesizers. His style varies between ambient, IDM, lo-fi beats and minimal techno.

During his student years in Brussels, he became intrigued by the IDM of Aphex Twin, Venetian Snares and Squarepusher, but in his music he likes to be inspired just as much by the traditional work of Steve Reich, Suzanne Ciani or Terry Riley, among others.

He finds himself freely guided by his instrument and a thoughtful musical concept, weaving together controlled random elements, dynamic rhythms and evolving harmonic structures into one organic whole.

He is also the bassist for Nordmann and Elias, gives regular workshops on synthesis techniques and works as a freelance mixing engineer and producer.

BIO

Mike Parnell (djamtomorrow) is an electroacoustic artist currently interested in exploring the place of the Zimbabwean mbira within electronic music.

Coming  from a traditional Irish music background, playing concertina, mandolin and bodhran,  he has expanded his horizons over the years, visiting and exploring the traditional music of West Africa, Cuba, Egypt and Zimbabwe to learn percussion styles, microtonal music and most influentially the mbira music of Zimbabwe. The discovery in Harare Art Gallery of a huge dust-covered mbira with a built in pickup in 2014 immediately inspired him to explore the sonic world within though ever more complex effects chains, loops and granular processing.

The last two years have seen a more focussed approach with regular livestreams on twitch as well as live appearances including Woodbridge Ambient Music Festival , Church of Sound in Nottingham, Ambient Leeds, Ealing Extranormal, Skronkfest, Moolaaki Club in Birkenhead and the Circuit Bent Festival in London.

Styles range from ambient to harsh noise along with chilled beats and more experimental  expeditions.

BIO

Martyn Greenwood (Concept Devices) started as a bass player in a local heavy rock/prog band in early 80’s. Based in Staffordshire UK.

A desire to be more creative lead to a move to synthesisers a few years later. Emulating Tangerine Dream using sequencers and multi-timbrel synths and moving across various EM genres and ended up in an 70’s style glam pop band until family came along.

After a hiatus of 10 years bass and synths re-entered his life and after discovering that there was a UK EM movement, the desire to play live again was only a matter of time.

Struggling with software, a conscious effort to move to hardware gear was made. The Playhouse music studio was built using a now redundant children’s playhouse, and gear has been changed throughout its life, mostly analogue semi modular and recently full modular is used to create solo live improvised ambient space music with multi faceted sequences.

Early 2020 Live-streaming became a fantastic way to showcase abilities and gear usage without the complications of venue gigs and i embraced it fully.

Currently working towards a venue based live concert as a collaborative project known as MR Collective in which the four members, from three different countries “rehearse” online using a software virtual recording studio. 8 sessions have now taken place with a planned 9th before the live event at Awakenings in Staffordshire.

“Inspiration is taken from spur of the moment aspects of the music I’m creating or playing along too, but ultimately TD, KS, Vangelis  and various rock bands such as Rush, Porcupine tree etc. I find actual recording of albums quite daunting because I play “in the moment” live and improvised and albums take away that spontaneity due to structure.” Cheers for now Martyn
